Lakers defeat Walsh 6-3
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Lake Superior State women's tennis team notched its first win in Florida by beating Walsh University, 6-3 Tuesday. The women are now 1-2 during their spring trip.
No. 1 singles player Adrienne DiVito (Washington, Mich.) defeated Walsh's Shellie Webster in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Carolyn Pumford and Katie Watchorn added singles wins for the Lakers, with Pumford's also going to three sets.
DiVito and Pumford (Bannister, Mich.) won at No. 2 doubles, 8-5, to complete a perfect day. Kellie Kristola (Marquette, Mich.) and Erin Wiethoff (Escanaba, Mich.) picked up a No. 3 doubles victory, 8-3.
The Lakers (7-12 overall) play South Dakota State Wednesday.
