LSSU beat Lake Erie for first conference win

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Lake Superior State defeated Lake Erie College, 9-0, in its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match of the 2010-11 women's tennis season. LSSU won at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles by default.

The Lakers won Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles matches by scores 6-0, 6-0. Junior Adriennne DiVito (Washington, Mich.) defeated Lake Erie at No. 1 singles, 6-1 for both sets. DiVito is now 3-0 overall at No. 1 doubles.

DiVito and No. 1 doubles partner Tess Marton (Toronto, Ont.) defeated Lake Erie, 8-1. Freshman Helen Sheridan (Mattawan, Mich.) and Holly Daniel (Zeeland, Mich.) won 8-0, at No. 2 doubles.

The Lakers will continue road play at Ohio Dominican Saturday at 10 a.m.
