Warriors edge Lakers in GLIAC dual

SAULT STE. MARIE - Wayne State won two of three doubles matches to set the tone for Saturday's 5-4 women's tennis victory over Lake Superior State. The Warriors (5-2 overall, 5-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) and Lakers (4-5 overall, 2-5 GLIAC) split their singles matches.

"We played another very focused match today," LSSU coach Tom Linhart said. "Despite the loss our
confidence is without a doubt up. Wayne State has always been a
strong team in our conference."

LSSU's Katie Watchorn claimed a 6-3, 1-0 (retired) win at No. 3 singles, and Erin Wiethoff and Kaitlynn Hutchinson won in straight sets at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Hutchinson and Tess Marton claimed an 8-3 decision at No. 3 doubles.

The Lakers wrap up their homestand with a match at 11 a.m. Sunday against Findlay.
