Lakers squeak past Ohio Dominican
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 5-4 victory over Ohio Domincan. The Lakers are 4-0 overall, and 1-0 in GLIAC match-ups.
LSSU's No. 2 singles player Erin Anderson-Scott (Hamilton, New Zealand) defeated ODU, 6-1, 6-0. Anderson-Scott and doubles partner Kaitlynn Hutchinson (Cadillac, Mich.) won 8-5 at No. 2.
Hutchinson defeated Ohio Dominican, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while No. 5 singles player Holly Daniel (Zeeland, Mich.) won, 6-4, 6-3.
LSSU was 2-1 in doubles, as Daniel and Teodora Gavric won 8-4 at No. 3.
The Lakers continue home play Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. in the Arbuckle Student Activity Center against Lake Erie.
