Lakers beat two non-conference teams

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State defeated Spring Arbor 5-4 and Aquinas 9-0 during non-conference women's tennis action over the weekend. The Lakers are 7-1 overall, and 2-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The No. 2 doubles team of Erin Anderson-Scott (Hamilton, New Zealand) and Kaitlynn Hutchinson (Cadillac, Mich.) were undefeated during the road trip. Anderson-Scott and Hutchinson posted a 8-3 victory over Spring Arbor and an 8-0 win over Aquinas. Anderson-Scott and Hutchinson are now 7-1 overall at No. 2 doubles.

Anderson-Scott was victorious over Spring Arbor, 6-0, 6-2, and Aquinas, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. At No. 4 singles, Hutchinson defeated her Spring Arbor opponent, 7-6, 6-3, and her Aquinas opponent, 6-2, 6-3. Tess Marton (Toronto, Ont.) was also undefeated in singles, winning 6-2, 6-2 over Spring Arbor and 6-0, 6-1 over Aquinas at No. 3.

Holly Daniel (Zeeland, Mich.) rounded out the singles sweeps at No. 5. Daniel defeated Spring Arbor, 6-2, 6-4, and Aquinas, 6-1, 6-1. Daniel is now 7-0 in singles.
