Lakers knock off #7 seed Ohio Dominican
MIDLAND, Mich. - Six-seed Lake Superior State defeated seven-seed Ohio Dominican 5-3 Saturday during the second round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament.
The Lakers (13-6 overall, 7-5 GLIAC) advance to Sunday's fifth-place match against five-seed Ferris State. Play begins at 9:30 a.m.
Holly Daniel and Kaitlynn Hutchinson both pulled out three-set singles victories and finished 2-0 for the day to lead the Lakers. Daniel won 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and teammed with Teodora Gavric to win 8-3 at No. 3 doubles. Hutchinson claimed a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles and combined with Erin Anderson-Scott to win 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
Tess Marton also won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
Ohio Dominican dropped to 7-8 overall and 6-6 in the GLIAC.
