Lakers lose to GVSU during NCAA Tournament first-round match

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Lake Superior State women's tennis team ended its stellar season with a 5-0 loss to Grand Valley State during the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships on Friday at Drury University.
LSSU ended its season with an impressive 15-8 record. The Lakers also lost 5-4 to GVSU during the conference season played last fall.
Senior Celina Grondin ended her career at No. 1 singles with a 39-25 record, while fellow seniors Alex Chiakmakis and Megan Smith finished 41-24 and 36-41, respectively. They led the Lakers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
