Lakers fall in five sets at Lake Erie
PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Lake Erie pulled out a 15-10 Set 5 win during to claim a 3-2 victory over Lake Superior State during Friday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match.
Lake Erie (4-19 overall, 1-11 GLIAC) won 25-14, 14-25, 25-21, 16-25, 15-10 to claim its first conference win. LSSU (6-14 overall and 2-11 in the GLIAC) travels to Ashland on Saturday.
Freshman Emily Snyder led Lake Superior State and tied her career high with 17 kills and a .353 attack percentage. Abby Shereda added 10 kills, and setter Janelle Balkwill had eight. Balkwill also totaled 33 assists, while libero Brittany Newberry had 30 digs.
Lake Erie compiled 52 team kills to LSSU's 48 and had 19 blocks to the Lakers' eight.
