GVSU topples LSSU
SAULT STE. MARIE - Grand Valley State defeated Lake Superior State 25-15, 25-8, 25-15 during a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match Saturday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
Abby Shereda totaled nine kills and four blocks to lead LSSU (3-5 overall, 1-3 GLIAC). Emily Snyder added eight kills, while Janelle Balkwill totaled 12 assists. Brittany Newberry finished with 14 digs. Newberry, Shereda and Katie Fitzpatrick combined to lead the Lakers in service reception.
GVSU improved to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the GLIAC.
LSSU plays host to Ferris State at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Gym.
