MTU wins rematch against LSSU
SAULT STE. MARIE - Michigan Tech defeated Lake Superior State, 25-18, 25-19, 25-15, to split the regular-season series between the two volleyball rivals.
Abby Shereda totaled 11 kills and two blocks, and Emily Snyder had eight kills and nine digs to lead the Lakers (6-16 overall, 2-13 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Janelle Balkwill totaled 22 assists, and libero Brittany Newberry had 19 digs.
Friday's match was LSSU's second annual Dig Pink event and part of the GLIAC's league-wide "Pink Wave" fight against breast cancer. The Lakers play their final home match at 2 p.m. Saturday against Northern Michigan.
Michigan Tech (5-17 overall, 3-12 GLIAC) was led by Kasey Woodcock with nine kills and Kristine Sexton with eight.
