SVSU spoils LSSU's home opener
SAULT STE. MARIE - Saginaw Valley State spoiled Lake Superior State's volleyball home opener with a 25-23, 25-20, 27-25 win Friday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
The Lakers' beach party homestand continues Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against Grand Valley State. Prior to the match, Campus Life will host a free tailgate party for students and fans.
Junior Abby Shereda totaled nine kills and two solo blocks, and freshman Emily Snyder added seven kills to lead the Lakers (3-4 overall, 1-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Juniors Lindsay McLeod and Jeanna Radzinski combined to total 11 kills.
Janelle Balkwill totaled 22 assists, and Brittany Newberry had 20 digs for the Lakers.
Annie Buxton had 16 kills for SVSU (4-3 overall, 2-1 GLIAC).
