Lakers win GLIAC volleyball season opener
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Lake Superior State opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball play with a 3-1 win at Ohio Dominican Friday. It was ODU's official debut as a GLIAC member.
Freshman Emily Snyder totaled 12 kills, and juniors Jeanna Radzinski and Abby Shereda added 10 each to lead the Lakers (3-2 overall, 1-0 GLIAC). Radzinski also had a .381 attack percentage and two solo blocks. Junior Lindsey McLeod added one solo and three block assists.
Junior setter Janelle Balkwill totaled a career-high 50 assists, and junior libero Brittany Newberry compiled 33 digs.
ODU fell to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC. The Lakers play at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tiffin.
