Lakers hit a season-high .410 during 3-0 victory over Storm

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State overpowered Lake Erie with a season-high attack percentage of .410 and cruised to a 3-0 volleyball victory Saturday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

The Lakers (7-14 overall, 4-9 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), who were celebrating Dig Pink for breast cancer awareness, defeated the Storm, 25-18, 25-11, 25-20.

Sophomore Emily Snyder totaled 12 kills with two errors and had a .500 attack rate, and junior Nikki Stratelak had 11 kills with two errors and a .529 attack percentage. Senior Lindsay McLeod compiled six kills with one error, had a .556 attack percentage, and totaled six block assists.

Janelle Balkwill finished with 21 assists, and Marylou Drobish had 18. Brittany Newberry led in digs with nine, followed by Snyder with eight.

LSSU totaled 10 team blocks, which is a season high for a three-set match and ties for second for an overall season high.

The Lakers play at Northern Michigan on Oct. 18.

Lake Erie dropped to 2-17 overall and 1-12 in the GLIAC.
