ESCANABA, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's cross country team competed in the Bay College Invitational on September 30th. The Lady Lakers, under the coaching of interm coach Rob Gallinger, came away with a 2nd place finish among the five team field with 44 points.
Sophomore Rebecca Lathrop was the top finisher for Lake Superior, as her 21:19.6 time put her in 7th place. Sophomore Lydia Heimonen completed the 5 kilometer course in 21:50.5, giving her a 10th place finish overall.
Lake State's Trudie Mulville took 12th place with a time of 22:10.8. Other finishers for the Lakers included Emily Merten (22:44.6 - 15th), Rachel Leggitt (22:49.9 - 17th) and Melody Perrin (25.13.3 - 24th).
Northern Michigan was the top team in the invitational, scoring 15 points.

Lake Superior will next compete at the Lansing Community College Invitational on Friday, October 6th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:15pm. This will be the last meet before the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships in Marquette, Michigan.
