SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's indoor track and field season starts this weekend on Friday, Dec. 6 at the Holiday Open hosted by Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Mich.
The Holiday Open starts at 4:00 p.m. for the field events and at 5:30 p.m. for the running events at the Saginaw Valley State University Fieldhouse. In addition, the women's pentathlon is set to start at 12:00 p.m. and the men's heptathlon is scheduled for a 12:15 p.m. start.
Among the Laker athletes competing in the event are sophomores Andrew Giddens and Riley Collins.
On the men's side, Giddens will compete in the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump. During the 2018-2019 indoor track and field season, Giddens ran a personal best time of 8.77 seconds to take 7th place in the GLIAC Indoor Championships.
On the women's side, Collins, an indoor track sophomore, will be competing in the high jump. In the 2018-2019 outdoor track and field season, Collins took 4th place at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships with a jump of 1.60 meters.
